City leaders and staff celebrated Phase 1 of the new Corporation Yard project today (10-27-21) with a ribbon cutting at the facility’s new home at 4300 West Capitol Ave.

The current Corporation Yard is on 9 acres at South River Road and houses the City’s Public Works Operations and Maintenance Department and the Maintenance Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. It dates back to the 1960’s and is past its operational prime.

The new Corporation Yard sits on 12 acres and has modern facilities with better safety features, more room for parking heavy equipment and material storage, plus a new decant facility to process, treat and dispose of street sweeping and other wet materials.

There is also a covered green waste transfer station to handle organic material from maintaining the City’s many parks.

Eventually, the site will include administration offices for Public Works and Parks maintenance staff.
